Making The M1 Garand

I also Have a Dream! Martin Luther King, Jr. Certainly, my cause may not be as grandiose as his or others like him, but there is at least a similarity. King spoke of equality; my dream is for the same. He sought equality for mankind. I want an equal playing field in the business community and a halt to the practice of being treated as, at best, a second class citizen or at worse, a pariah or blight on the liberal community. Yes, I am a gun owner; a person among many who feels like a target of persecution. Along with others, I have passed a Federal Bureau of Investigation Instant Background check in order to buy and posses a long gun. I am one of millions who has passed rigorous background surveillance simply to be able to handle a hand gun within New York State.

Accepted by the Ordnance Department The maker’s mark and Ordnance wheel went on the left side of the stock below the back end of the receiver. There are 2 versions of the S.

11th (Lonsdale Battalion) Border Regiment Cap Badge From the same family as the other example listed. This one appears to be in bronzed brass; I am quite sure this is a deliberate patination rather than a natural age-induced toning (compare the two badges side-by-side as illustrated).

Even though Springfield Armory used a two-piece firing pin and other slight design alterations, the was in fact a Mauser design and this resulted in the U. By January, over , rifles produced. Due to inconsistent heat treatments, low numbered receivers Springfield Armory below , and Rock Island Arsenal below , should NEVER be fired under any circumstances because of the risk of serious injury or death.

Toward the end of WWI. A cut in the left side of the receiver and stock were added to accommodate the Pederson Device semi-auto. The M A2 is a stripped A1 or A3 used as a sub- caliber rifle in artillery pieces. The Springfield is “officially” replaced by the M1 Garand. Honda commercial, CG, right? It could’ve been, but why not do it for the art instead? Anime and Manga Osamu “God of Manga” Tezuka continually revised his work and removed stories from circulation that he felt weren’t up to par , created experimental works just for the hell of it, and is even said to have died saying “Please, God , let me work! Realize that when he did this, there was no manga industry, so Tezuka was turning down a guaranteed career as a doctor in favor of something that could’ve just as easily crashed and burned.

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Though he hated the weekly format of the manga, the Executive Meddling , and being obligated to make his work a Franchise Zombie , his works never declined in quality—in fact, it became even more complex and interesting—and he always took special care about making sure no plot holes were created. The music of Cowboy Bebop , rather than going for the J-Pop music that’s the norm for such anime , elected to go for classic jazz performed by composer Yoko Kanno and her band The Seatbelts.

If you really want to be impressed, consider the fact that Jazz is not a popular art form in Japan though Tokyo does currently have a fast-growing jazz scene, well worth checking out. The anime film Metropolis , based off an Osamu Tezuka manga which was itself based loosely off a film by Fritz Lang , uses the same music with a very similar impact. Yoko Kanno already had some OST fame for a very different sound that was and continued to be in demand for sci-fi works, or 20 Minutes into the Future settings like Cowboy Bebop.

The experience has to do with the way groups of people are using CMC to rediscover the power of cooperation, turning cooperation into a game, a way of life–a .

In these times, most of us use semi-automatic, military rifles. There are many choices! Most other military rifles employ a gas piston, connected to an op-rod, and most of these are gas-adjustable, from the factory. With gas-adjustable rifles that are shot-cycling, increasing the percentage of gas that drives the system while simultaneously decreasing the percentage that is vented off will restore normal functioning.

Often, rifles that function normally when clean and well-lubricated, become sluggish as they get dry and dirty. Again, increasing the gas percentage that drives the system will keep the rifle going until it can be cleaned and re-lubricated. They are designed so that there is always plenty of gas to insure normal functioning, despite unlubricated moving parts and excessive gas leakage.

So, is there a down-side to too much gas? Over-gassed rifles will generate more felt recoil than rifles that are correctly gassed. Probably a moot point with those chambered for 5. Most significantly, over-gassed rifles will often have bolt movement so violent that the magazine cannot push-up the next round fast enough to be fed into the chamber normally.

Of course, bolt velocity can be adjusted via heaver or lighter recoil springs as well as via gas-adjustment.

Army Ordnance Serial Number Assignments Understanding Serial Numbers – Understanding Dates of Manufacture Serial number blocks were assigned by the Ordnance Department on an as needed basis, generally in response to the awarding of a contract to a given manufacturer. The serial number was placed on the carbine receiver during the manufacturing process of the receiver, not when the carbine was finally assembled.

The decision for which receivers would be used for the U. Carbine Models M1, M1A1, or M2 were made well after the receiver was completed as all of these models used the same receiver. Given the high volume production, receivers were generally assembled as part of a carbine within a few months after the receiver was serial numbered. However, dating a carbine by it’s serial number alone is difficult and not always accurate given the circumstances inherent with manufacturing and the logistics situation during the time the carbines were manufactured.

Gunsmiths specializing in custom areas can be called upon by professional target-shooters, avid sports shooters, or anyone that wants custom attributes added to their firearm to create highly accurate or custom looking firearms. A Custom Gunsmith also builds high-end firearms for hunters and shooters with needs and desires that cannot be served by standard catalogued firearms offered by gun manufacturers.

They may work in partnership with engravers and other specialized artists to produce unique finishes and decorations not possible on regular mass-produced firearms. Some highly specialized gunsmiths can complete all firearm modifications without anyone else in the industry helping them.
